Celebrating Client Relationships in a Career in Commercial Real Estate

MARKET INSIGHTS | ![]() |
Since 1989, I have been working in the commercial real estate industry and I have learned timeless wisdom and invaluable insights from the Industry at large. Every day I operate with those experiences and put them into practice in my capacity as a managing Principal Broker.
I could fill an entire series with the thousands of transactions and clients throughout my career in commercial real estate…from the good and the bad to the outright ugly to the most exciting and rewarding. Sometimes we are blessed with those above-and-beyond clients who are an absolute joy to work with. The clients that make you realize, this is why we do what we do day in and day out.
Today, I want to celebrate one of those clients.
Today's newsletter is a celebration of great clients. It’s dedicated to a special couple – an Optometrist and his wife whose enthusiasm and drive transformed a typical owner occupied commercial real estate deal into a journey of joy, collaboration and the realization of a dream. Family Focus Eye Care – Dr. Travis Taylor and his wife Heather are those clients.
The Spark of a Vision

Dr. Taylor and Wife Heather embody what makes working in commercial real estate fulfilling. Their journey with us began as a quest for expansion – a need to grow their thriving practice. But it evolved into something much more collaborative: building their dream.
They initially leased a building that fit their needs down the street, but with their lease term coming to an end, they wanted to explore other options for their growing practice. In line with the American Dream, they wanted to own a property that could accommodate that growth and reflect the quality of care and customer service they provide to their patients. They wanted the opportunity to hire more Doctors and provide care for more members of the community. When they set their sights on a building that was initially only for lease, it was the start of a transformational endeavor – for them and us.
After negotiations with the property owner, we were able to help our client purchase the property, and in addition, help them find the right type of financing product via the Small Business Administration (SBA) which allowed them to purchase, but finance the improvements by wrapping it into the SBA loan.
Collaborative Spirit: More Than Just a Transaction

There are a lot of people who want more. We see them every day, and we help them build their dreams. But this couple was special.
What made this couple stand out was their infectious enthusiasm and positive outlook. Commercial real estate transactions can often become focused on the details and negotiations, but working with these clients was a breath of fresh air.
Their excitement to create a space that was truly their own brought energy into every step of the process. Nothing could stand in their way.
We introduced them to several local contractors, and their chosen contractor was a perfect fit for them. As they walked through the construction process together, it was clear that this was more than a project; it was the realization of their professional dream. Their approach was hands-on, and their input was invaluable.
When it came to renovations, Heather’s distinct sense of style – a penchant for shiplap – added a personal touch that turned a building that had once been a conventional high density CPA offices into a modern and professional medical office that represented their values, vision AND aesthetic.
A Testament to Perseverance and Partnership

It was a privilege to guide this special client from a small, leased space to owning a property that reflected the growth and success of their medical practice.
Their story is a reminder of the essence of our work in commercial real estate – it's not just about transactions and getting ‘deals done’ but moreover it's about the dreams of the people we are aiming to serve. It's about turning visions into reality with each and every decision and the corresponding sequence of steps therein. It’s about leveraging a network and experience to execute on all that it takes to realize a dream.
Realizing dreams for people who are a pleasure to work with makes our job easy. I’ll always remember the incredible journey with these clients. Their satisfaction and continued engagement are the greatest endorsements of our commitment to serving the people of the communities we serve.
